Parts

CPU: Intel i7-13700K

The CPU of choice is the Intel i7-13700K, featuring 16 cores, with 8 performance cores capable of reaching up to 5.4 GHz. While this CPU supports both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, opting for DDR4 with a compatible motherboard can be a cost-saving measure. Alternatively, the more recent 7800X3D is a top-tier gaming CPU, though the 13700K remains a powerhouse capable of handling modern games effectively, especially when paired with the 7900 XT in this build. In terms of upgradability, there should be an upgrade path until at least the 14th generation.

Motherboard: NZXT N7 Z790

The motherboard, the NZXT N7 Z790, stands out for its sleek all-matte-black design, adorned with black metal heat spreaders that contribute to a clean and sophisticated look. As a Z series board, it enables overclocking for the 13700K, making it ideal for those interested in pushing performance limits. Featuring abundant USB ports, including USB-C, Wi-Fi 6E, and a clear CMOS button, this motherboard offers a comprehensive set of features suitable for gaming enthusiasts.

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo M.2 Drive

Moving on to storage, a Samsung 970 Evo M.2 drive provides ample space for the operating system and essential applications. The NZXT H7 Elite accommodates up to three M.2 SSDs, ensuring future expandability.

Memory: Corsair Dominator DDR5 5600

Memory-wise, 32GB of Corsair Dominator DDR5 5600 memory, equipped with Intel XMP profiles, delivers seamless performance without compromising on timings.

Cooling: NZXT Kraken RGB 360 Liquid Cooler

The cooling setup features an NZXT Kraken RGB 360 liquid cooler, which includes 3 front fans, promising efficient cooling with minimal noise levels, measuring around 41 Db for the full system when using the silent mode.

Power Supply: NZXT C1200 Gold Power Supply

Cable management becomes crucial, given the plethora of RGB components and system wires. The NZXT H7 Elite offers ample cable routing options with velcro straps for a tidy interior. The NZXT C1200 Gold Power Supply, providing 1200 watts of power, supports the system with room for future upgrades.

GPU: Powercolor AMD 7900 XT

The GPU, an AMD RX 7900 XT from Powercolor, fits seamlessly into the case, leaving room for larger cards if desired. With impressive performance metrics, including high frame rates in 4K gaming scenarios, the 7900 XT proves to be an excellent choice for demanding gaming setups.

The NZXT H7 Elite, with its premium aesthetics, robust build quality, and efficient cooling capabilities, stands as a solid choice for enthusiasts seeking a blend of performance and style in their gaming rigs.

Step-by-Step Assembly Guide

Prepare the Motherboard

  1. Install CPU

Install the CPU by aligning the triangle on the CPU with the corresponding triangle on the socket before closing the latch securely.

  1. Install Storage

Pull off the magnetic cover, remove the M.2 heatsink, insert the M.2 drive, and secure it with the heatsink.

  1. Install Memory (RAM)

When installing RAM, utilizing the dual-channel configuration by placing the sticks in the 2nd and 4th slots optimizes memory performance. Open up the latch, make sure the slots are aligned, and press down until you hear the click.

  1. Grab the Intel backplate, align it with the 4 screw holes on the back of the motherboard, and grab the 4 standoffs, hand tightening them in place.
  1. Prepare the Case

Remove the side panels and gather the accessory box. Ensure the case is placed on a stable surface.

  1. Motherboard Installation

Lower the motherboard into the case, align it with the standoffs, and secure it with screws.

  1. Install AIO

Install the cooler by aligning the holes on the radiator fans with the radiator and securing them with the provided washers and long screws. Lower the cooler into the case and fasten it to the top of the case with the short screws.

  1. The intel bracket is pre-installed, along with the thermal paste. Simply lower the block onto the CPU and align it with the 4 standoffs. Apply even pressure distribution using an X pattern.
  1. Route and Connect Cables

The NZXT includes an RGB controller, which will be used to plug in the 3 fans. Then connect it to a USB header and power supply. Plug in corresponding cables for USB 3, USB-C, and HD audio.

  1. Prepare Power Supply

Connect the  24-pin motherboard cable, CPU power cable, SATA power cables for the RGB controller and pump, and the 8-pin PCIe cables for the GPU into the NZXT C1200 Gold Power Supply.

  1. Slide the power supply into the case, route all cables down the channels on the back, tie them down using the velcro straps,  run them through the pass-throughs closest to their connectors, and plug everything in.
  1. Install the GPU
  1. Lower the GPU into the case, slide it into the PCIe express slot, and secure it. Plug in the 2 8-pin power cables, and make sure they are pushed in completely.
  1. Finalize and Test

Reinstall the side panels on the case. Double-check all connections and cable routing for tidiness. Power on the system and ensure everything is functioning correctly. Run performance tests to check system stability and performance.
